CCTV drain survey: see the cause before you pay for a repair
A CCTV drain survey puts a colour camera inside the pipe, so the problem is seen rather than guessed. We are a drainage contractor working from our yard at Copthall Farm, Ickenham. We’re based in West London and work up and down the country. After the survey we explain what the camera shows in plain terms, then recommend the work it supports, whether that’s jetting, relining, excavation or simply monitoring.

When a drain survey is worth doing
- The same drain keeps blocking.
- You’ve had a drain cleared and want to know whether the clear will hold.
- Before a repair, a relining job or excavation, so the work is aimed at the right section.
- Before landscaping, an extension or driveway work near a drain run.
- Damp, smells or ground movement near a drain with no obvious cause.
How a CCTV drain survey works
- Access. We get into the run through a suitable chamber or fitting. If a run can’t be surveyed safely, we tell you early.
- Camera. A colour camera travels through the pipe and records the inside. We stop at each defect so it’s clearly seen, for example cracks or root ingress.
- Findings. We talk you through what the camera showed, in plain English.
- Recommendation. We recommend what the survey supports: jetting, lining, excavation or monitoring. No pressure to dig the garden if a no-dig option will do. There’s no obligation to use us for the work.
Domestic and commercial drain surveys
- Homes and landlords: repeat blockages, a cause that hasn’t been found, and checking a run before or after other work. See domestic drainage.
- Commercial sites and managing agents: we plan work around your trading hours. See commercial drainage and planned drainage maintenance.
- Rail: see rail drainage.

Survey first, then the right repair
A survey often decides between three routes:
- Jetting, where the pipe is sound but blocked or scaled: high-pressure drain jetting.
- Relining, where the pipe is damaged but suitable for a no-dig repair: drain relining.
- Excavation, where a section has failed and needs replacing: drain excavation.
If the cause is a blockage, start with blocked drains.

Frequently asked questions
- What is a CCTV drain survey?
- A colour camera is passed through the drain to record its condition from the inside. It shows defects such as cracks and root ingress, so a repair is based on evidence rather than guesswork.
- Is a CCTV survey always needed?
- Not always for a simple first clear. It's the right tool when a problem keeps coming back or before a repair or relining job.
- Do you survey commercial drains?
- Yes. We survey domestic and commercial runs, and on commercial sites we plan the work around your trading hours.
- Will you recommend work after the survey?
- We recommend the work the survey supports, which may be nothing more than monitoring. There's no obligation to use us for it.
- What if the drain can't be accessed?
- Access quality matters. If a run can't be surveyed safely, we'll tell you early.
- Are you 24/7?
- No. We work Monday to Friday 6am–6pm and Saturday and Sunday 6am–4pm.
- Which areas do you cover?
- We are based in West London and work up and down the country. Where we work →
